I know how overwhelming is when our babies reach 6 months old and we start thinking that our baby is turning one soon... So, where you should start? Keep reading and save this info cause it will be so helpful to maintain your sanity.
Decide if you want a small but meaningful party or if you want to celebrate it big at a venue/big room,
Choose a date and time and book that venue in advance. Do your best research on your area. From community centers, amenities room or a venue rental, the options are plenty. Whichever you choose, please ensure that there is great lighting and that the space is well distributed. When you don't have good light, your event décor might look very opposite to those Pinterest boards (my board: https://pin.it/Oobb8qp4E) you have saved, just because of not having the adequate light.
Choose a party theme, ideally something that is meaningful for your baby and for the whole family. It doesn't matter how trendy or not it is...this was my favorite part when I organized my kids' first birthday parties.
Booking the different vendors for your event. Make a list of what is a priority for you: kids' fun, spotless event décor and details, a great photographer, catering, cake and desserts, and so you may continue. The list can go on and on but...the next step is very important.
Budget: Vancouver, is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Be mindful and smart managing these party costs. They add up very quickly and we can help you organize and stick to that if you hire our Event Planning services. Add some extra room for final details. This step is key and crucial for understanding how many vendors you want to choose.
Book the date with the vendors you have chosen. See my recommended list of Event Vendors in Vancouver, BC: https://www.lulispartyhouse.ca/post/recommended-list-of-vendors-for-events-in-vancouver . Most vendors only require 50% of the total amount to book the date, that gives you some flexibility if you book this in advance.
Here comes the exciting event décor part. Deciding if you want to DIY or hire a professional event décor is what you need to decide first. Then comes choosing the colour palette, theme, and size of your decorations. Depending how big is the space you want to decorate, you may choose three backdrops or more. If you are decorating a smaller space, one or two backdrops you want to choose.
Family Outfit, yes, don't leave it till the last minute. There are so many inspo boards on Pinterest and what you really want to make sure is that at least your family members (spouse and other kids) are on a similar vibe. After all you are investing on great services, and your memories are important as well. Meaning that you cherish those pictures for the eternity!
Send invitations to the ones that have been close to you after this first rough but amazing first year of your baby. Ideally you want to send these 2 or 3 weeks in advance to the date.
ENJOY the moment! Do not get stressed for last minute details. Hiring professional vendors will make sure that you don't get unexpected surprises this happen. Choose them wisely.
